Asparagus

Oh my goodness!! While I am aware that spring does not begin until the 20th of March, the seed catalogues have been coming in the mail and I have been doing garden planning! My first order of seeds arrived last week and I got my asparagus seeds started in their flat this week. We have wanted to grow an asparagus patch for many years but have never actually started the process of getting that going. For those not familiar, asparagus is a perennial and needs three years to grow and establish itself before you can start to harvest. I decided that this year I would bite the bullet so to speak and just get our patch going. I chose seeds from https://www.rareseeds.com and got them started. I planted the entire packet in hopes that they will all sprout and I may be able to give some plants away and perhaps sell some of the seedlings. To get my fingers into the soil again was thrilling! If you’ve not done it yet, or you haven’t considered planting a garden I urge you to do it! There are some many wonderful, satisfying things that come with gardening. Even if you choose to grow and love just one plant, it is SO healthy!!

Soaked the seeds for 24 hours
Fill the flat with soil and moisten the soil with water
Plant the seeds and cover with plastic wrap to hold the moisture and warmth
